How to apply?

Applicants should submit their applications via the HKU UG online application system. Please go to the webpage at for details.

What are the interview arrangements?

Only shortlisted candidates would receive interview invitation. Skype interview could be arranged for applicants who are not residing in Hong Kong upon request. Applicants who are shortlisted will hear from us the detailed interview arrangement through email or phone. Request for rescheduling will be considered on a case by case basis.

Interviews will be conducted in English.

Are there any specific subjects that are preferred or required for admission?

All undergraduate programmes within our Faculty has no required subjects for admission and no subjects will be given heavier weightings.

Is it necessary for applicants to submit their portfolio?

a. Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies (No)
b. Bachelor of Science in Surveying (No)
c. Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Studies
(not required but encouraged to
submit one example of creative work)
d. Bachelor of Arts in Conservation (No)
e. Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies (No)
f. Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Design+ (Yes)

What are the Major/Minor options offered by the Faculty of Architecture?

Please note that our Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies, Bachelor of Science in Surveying, Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Conservation and Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies, are professional curriculum and they are offered to students who are admitted to that particular programme only. In other words, these programmes are not offered as second major for students outside the programme.

JUPAS

How will programmes of our Faculty consider Mathematics Extended Modules (M1/M2)?

BA(Architectural Studies) and BASc(Design+) will consider M1/M2 scores.
M1/M2 scores are excluded for BSc(Surv), BA(Landscape Architecture), BA (Conservation) and
BA(Urban Studies)

Will you consider HKDSE combined results?

HKDSE Combined results are considered as follows, with no penalty:
a. BAAS: Best results in 2 or more sittings
b. BScSurv: Best results in years 2019 and 2020 only
c. BALS: Best results in 2 or more sittings
d. BA Conservation: Best results in the latest 2 sittings, one of which should include 2020
e. BAUS: Best results in the latest 2 sittings, one of which should include 2020
f. BASc(Design+): Best results in 2 or more sittings

Will there be any penalty for HKDSE repeaters?

For the six undergraduate programmes within our Faculty, there will no penalty for HKDSE repeaters.

Non-JUPAS

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants should provide proof of achievement in an international examination (IB Diploma, GCE A Level, SAT / ACT / AP, etc.) or a national examination (Indian Board Examinations, ATAR, Canadian provincial examinations, etc.), together with the English language and the second language proficiency to apply to the University.
