运盈彩票官网 The Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Studies (BA(LS)) is a four-year full-time degree program. The multidisciplinary curriculum emphasizes design, technology, history and theory and visual communications, and gives students a comprehensive grounding in the knowledge, concepts and skills which landscape architects commonly require to deal with complex community, ecological and developmental issues within diverse urban and natural environments.

运盈彩票官网 The BA(LS) program is studio based, allowing students to work directly with instructors in design projects and guided research studies that integrate both theoretical exploration and practical implementation. Design studio is integrated with concurrent theoretical and technical courses that reinforce the core knowledge of landscape architecture and broaden students’ perspectives across related disciplines.

Students begin with explorations of forms, space, and materials and advance to integrating social and ecological processes in their design work. They are exposed to a wide range of environments through site visits and field trips, and the Division actively collaborates with other leading landscape programs overseas to offer opportunities for students to engage their peers from around the world. Study abroad programmes are also widely available within the Faculty and University.

Minor in Landscape Studies

The Minor in Landscape Studies is designed for students in other disciplines to gain literacy in the core knowledge of landscape architecture.

What career opportunities are available after I graduate?

The BA(LS) degree is a first degree leading to the more specialized, professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree, and then to a professional qualification and registration as a landscape architect. The BA(LS) program provides an excellent general arts education that will give students the confidence to enter other related design or research fields.

运盈彩票官网 It is expected that many of our graduates will pursue specialized academic studies and research in landscape architecture or adjacent disciplines at The University of Hong Kong, and other leading institutions in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America.

运盈彩票官网 Despite the challenging economic environment, the demand for landscape architecture has increased in recent years in response to rising awareness of environmental and quality of life issues.

Many of our graduates join professional consultancy firms and work with landscape architects, architects, engineers, ecologists, planners, etc., or work for contractors, or as site supervisory staff, or in landscape management. Others work for government offices, non-profit organizations, or advocacy groups.
